Examples of appropriate industry, private or civic partners for collaboration

A distinct feature of the OWSD Early Career Fellowship is to promote research collaboration between academic scientists and industry and other sectors to develop innovations for more inclusive economies and societies.

Please find below a list of the type of industrial or private sector organizations that you may wish to collaborate with:

  • A private-sector, for-profit organization that is doing Research and Development (R&D) in one of the OWSD Early Career eligible countries
  • A private-sector, for-profit organization that is doing R&D and is not incorporated, but is wholly owned  by one of the OWSD Early Career eligible countries
  • A utility or hydro company in one of the OWSD Early Career eligible countries
  • A start-up/spinoff company in one of the OWSD Early Career eligible countries with its own research facilities and technical staff that are separate from the university
  • A foreign company in one of the OWSD Early Career eligible countries (as long as sufficient opportunities will be provided for interaction between the fellow and the company)
  • An organization that represents a group in one of the OWSD Early Career eligible countries enterprises or producers  (federations of industries, chamber of commerce) 
  • Consulting firms, engineering firms and other enterprises in one of the OWSD Early Career eligible countries that do not have production facilities 
  • A government-owned organization in one of the OWSD Early Career eligible countries, operating as a regular for-profit enterprise, or on a cost-recovery basis
  • A not-for-profit organization based in one of the OWSD Early Career eligible countries
  • A social enterprise based in one of the OWSD Early Career eligible countries
