The diverse structural variations of biopolymers produced by bacteria of different taxonomic lineages, seems an inexhaustible mine of novel, peculiar polymers, endowed with a unique ability to serve as primer for nanobiocomposites, biosensors, recovery of trace/precious metals, biocides, corrosion inhibitors, flocculants, disinfectants, emulsifiers, conditioners, adhesives etc. Biopolymers have been advocated to be eco-friendly, sustainable alternatives with superior performance therefore there is a pressing need for viable alternatives to existing chemical polymers. My research focuses onto prospecting, development and technological exploitation of novel microbial biopolymers also their surface engineered/ modified derivatives. I am also involved in teaching under and post graduate courses in biotechnology, course development, monitoring of UG/PG students in laboratory for dissertation work and direct monitoring of 4 Ph.D. students for research, national and bilateral research projects. Apart from the above activities, I am also involved as well as member of various national committees, scientific committees and as reviewer of scientific journals published by Elsevier, Springer and Wiley.
