The broad research area is energy conversion through internal combustion engines. Alternate fuels and emissions are the main research interests. Work in the area of alternate fuels include dual-fuel operation of existing C.I. engines using bio-gas, biomass-based producer-gas and compressed natural gas (CNG) as supplementary fuels. The research activities also encompass utilization of CNG and producer-gas as a fuel for spark ignition engines with retrofit approach and development of dedicated spark ignition CNG engines.
