Field and laboratory experience in integrated control of fruit tree pests, especially scale insects and mealy bugs (Hemiptera: Sternorrhyncha: Coccoidea). Experience in biological control, particularly surveys of parasites and predators associated with scale insects and mealybugs. Identification of scale insect species, involving preparation of high quality microscope slide mounts; use of identification keys especially to genus and species of armored scales (Diaspididae) and soft scales (Coccidae). Use of scanning electron microscopy to study scale insect morphology.
