My work focuses on the study of Climate Change at local and regional scale based on the analysis of sedimentary records. The variations that are evidenced can be product of natural environmental variability (i.e., rainfall, temperature) or product of human activities that impact the natural functioning of a lake system (i.e., advance of the agricultural frontier, mining activities, deforestation, fires, among others). The aforementioned variations can be evidenced in a time scale that covers the last tens, hundreds, and thousands of years. This type of studies allows to know and understand the environmental variability considering the dynamics of the system and its interaction with the surrounding biotic/abiotic environment, becoming an efficient and practical tool in the Integrated Management and Conservation of Water Resources.
