I am an experienced scientist & science educator with a mission to help secondary school students - especially students in the Global South - develop careers in science and engineering. Especially important is supporting girls and young women in their pursuit of STEM careers. These students will become the next generation of scientists who will decide science policy in a rapidly changing and complex world. With attentive mentoring we can prepare these students for their future roles as influencer scientist. To accomplish this mission, I want to establish a "Junior World Academy of Science" for upper secondary students that is similar in function to existing national senior & junior academies of science. The junior academy will: 1. Inspire secondary school students - especially girls and young women - to develop their aptitude and interest in science with the guidance of mentor scientists in their respective countries. 2. Support fellowship between students that will enable a sharing of solutions to common problems and policies - particularly those that hinder sustainable development. 3. Encourage students to further their education in STEM fields beyond secondary school. 4. Advance the development of science capacity and resiliency in their respective countries. Realizing these goals will help young student-scientists to discover solutions to present and future challenges in development and the basic sciences - especially in issues of food & water, shelter, energy, economic, and health security.Current profession
