Consulting Laboratory Technician and research assistant Company Name: International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) Dates Employed: Sep 2014 – Present Employment Duration 3 yrs 11 mos Location: Yaounde,Cameroon Development of biopesticide : - Rearing of banana weevils in the lab & screenhouse. - Study of virulence of selected strains of entomopathogens in the lab and screenhouse. -General well-being of the lab. - Key data and prepare resume. - Prepare media such as PDA, Tween 80, alcohol V6 AND V8 agar juice etc. -Study of development of insects at different temperatures. -Study of the efficacy and formulations in the screenhouse and farm to fight against targeted insects. -Study of virulence in the lab of strains of selected entomopathogens and burnt strains of taro. - Study of conidia persistence of formulations in the soil. - Putting in place of farm and taking agronomic parameters while carrying out test. - Purification of strains and test if is endophytic. -Study CFU & radial growth at different pH, photoperiods and U.V of the strains. - Initiation & eveluation of shelflife at different temperatures. -Setting traps in the farms to collect insects. Culture, isolate and physiological classification of Irish potato fungi and bacteria. Carry out other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
