Master in Science and PhD in Chemistry (PEDECIBA, Uruguay, 2001). Postdoctoral internships at University of Ghent (Belgium), Michigan State University (US) and INRA (Narbonne, France). Since 2013. I direct the Microbial Ecology Laboratory from the Department of Biochemistry and Microbial Genomics, Biological Research Institute Clemente Estable, Montevideo, Uruguay. Extensive experience in Microbiology of systems to recover energy from wastes (hydrogen, methane and electricity) and Molecular biology applied to Microbial Ecology. 51 publications in double-refereed journals with h index of 21 (Web of Science, ISI). Experience in working with the industry to solve different problems related to wastewater treatment processes.
