Diseases of protected and non-protected crops with major emphasis on fungal pathogens. Objectives of research include development of disease control through: 1. Enhancement of biocontrol efficacy of antagonistic microorganisms to soil and foliar diseases in crops through use of beneficial microorganisms (BMO); metabolic profiling of antagonist strains; functional impact of genetically modified microorganisms; exploiting microoganisms using combinatorial biology to provide novel lead chemicals for agrochemical use; Improve production and formulation technology and development of agricultural waste into a delivery system for biological control agents against plant pathogens. 2. Use of safe chemicals as anti-transparent, polyamines, antioxidants, induce resistance, plant extracts. Experimental approaches include laboratory, greenhouse and field experiments
