RENEWABLE ENERGY (BIOFUEL FROM ALGAE AND LIGNOCELLULOSIC BIOMASS): We are working on the production of bioethanol from algal biomass and lignocellulosic feedstock biomass that are easily sourced, and which presents rich compositions and have the possibilities of scaling-up, and industrialization. Characterization of selected feedstock biomass for the determination of the carbohydrate, protein, lipids contents, etc. are to be carried out, and also, different pretreatment approaches are to be performed on these biomasses to achieve optimal sugar production and lignin-rich solid. The resultant sugars are to be fermented by suitable microorganisms such as bacteria, yeast, and fungi to maximize ethanol production. Also, valorization of resultant solid-waste from both pretreatment and fermentation steps, including treatment of post-fermentation liquid phase before discharging into the environment are to be taken into consideration and tested.Workshop and Conference Attended
