Current profession

Current professional activities type:
Research
Teaching
Currently, I’m working as an Assistant Professor and Chairman of the department of Pathology, Faculty of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine (FASVM), Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU), Dhaka, Bangladesh. My major roles are teaching (undergraduates and graduates), research and administration (as chairman of this department). I have an extended interests for molecular works on host-pathogen interactions, immunology of infectious diseases of farm animals, different RNA viruses and their preventive control strategies i.e. FMDV, PPRV, Influenza virus, Rabies virus and PRRSV), bovine tuberculosis and antimicrobial resistance mechanism and control of clinical and environmental pathogens as well. Previously, I was employed as a "Postdoctoral Research Fellow" following my doctorate (PhD) degree at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Chonbuk National University (CBNU), Republic of Korea; wherein, I was focusing on couple of research projects and also engaged successfully as a "Research In-Charge" for graduates (MS and PhD program) in the department of Veterinary Immunology under the same college and university. My previous researches (major) has been focused mostly on the functional genomics of Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome Virus (PRRSV) largely prospecting of viral pathogenesis intended to address two major hurdles faced by PRRS vaccinology i.e. low genetic fidelity and limited cross-protection. PRRSV, a quickly evolving RNA virus, is the most challenging threat to the swine industries worldwide. Previously, we have been developed a candidate strain of PRRSV through mutagen-driven lethal mutagenesis which possesses high genetic stability evinced during replication sequentially in pigs passage by passage. And, the cross-protective efficacy against PRRSV strains was enhanced by introducing heterogeneity in the neutralizing epitopes constructed into an immunogenic backbone of PRRSV using reverse-genetics approaches. Wherein, we have been developed a chimeric vaccine platform for PRRSV aimed to enhance the heterologous protection against highly divergent PRRSV strains. Besides, to gain the holistic view of PRRS, we have also been focusing on the host-genetics associated with increased resistance and immune-responses against PRRSVs to understand the genetic basis of the disease resistance in pigs.
