I developed a novel theory-based conceptual nutrition education programme for primary school teachers. The programme was applied in a primary school in Bronkhorstspruit district during the 2015 academic year and it led to improvement in the teachers’ skills in teaching nutrition and improvement in the teachers’ and the learners’ nutrition knowledge and attitudes. The study demonstrated the feasibility of integrating theory based context specific nutrition lessons implemented by teachers into the existing school curriculum to improve nutrition teaching skills. I am presently involved with a large project that is investigating the generational and sex-specific effects of paternal environmental exposures on offspring’s development and health. I am involved in the field data collection, data entry, and report writing regarding the dietary aspect of the study.
