• Research: Supervising three M. Phil/ Ph.D students working on immunological and molecular aspects of haematological malignancies. Train students and technologists to independently perform various experiments and diagnostic assays. Research includes; Isolation of DNA from blood and bone marrow, PCR amplification, and investigation of mutations and polymorphism via sequencing of genes with diagnostic and prognostic significance in myeloproliferative neoplasms, leukemias, aplastic anemia and immune thrombocytopenia purpura. Flow cytometric quantification of platelets redox potential, Th cells, Tc cells. ELISA based investigation of drug metabolizing enzymes and levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Designed and supervised project titled “Comparative study on routine diagnostic tests; to develop reference model for efficient and timely diagnosis of Malaria” sponsored by Pakistan Medical Research Council as Co-Principal Investigator of project. Responsible for technical write-ups of various research projects including technical reports and publications.

Focal person at National Institute of Blood Diseases & BMT, Karachi for the collaborative work on the US AID funded “Enhanced HIV/ AIDS Control Program”, Govt. of Sind, Pakistan. Promoted as head of Div. of Immunology & Applied Microbiology at Centre of Excellence in Microbiology, (CEMM). • Teaching: Full time faculty member at the Dept. of Post Graduate Studies & Research (NIBD). Organize, teach, mark papers and oversee tutorials in Cell and Molecular biology (Course: 702), Immunology (Course: 705), Techniques and Updates in Stem Cell Transplant and hematology (Course: 803) and Presentation skills, literature review and thesis writing (Course: 801) from post-graduate students.
