As a proud female research scientist under Biofuel research group of the North-West University, it is my responsibility to research ways in which we can reduce carbon emissions in the atmosphere, while securing food consumption. My research project is aimed at producing sustainable fuels from second generation biomass, with more focus on bio-butanol and bio-ethanol production. I am currently investigating a number of technologies to produce these biofuels cheaper, and also without harming food consumption, hence the project focuses on non-food biomass for biofuel production.
