Dr Leigh Adams Tucker is a registered Clinical Psychologist and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at the University of the Western Cape (UWC). Leigh’s research interests include discursive constructions of health and illness, particularly in relation to child and adolescent mental health; masculinities, disabilities, and human-animal interaction. In her doctoral studies, Leigh worked with young boys diagnosed with ADHD to understand how they manage and derive meaning from their condition. Leigh is also the Chairperson for Pets as Therapy (South Africa), a non-profit organisation that organises for volunteers and their animal companions to provide therapeutic comfort and support to individuals in facilities.
