Biological Systems and Organisms

I am a Microbiologist by Profession, doing teaching and research at the Department of Microbiology, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. My research in the field of Microbiology is multifaceted focusing Environmental pollution and toxicology including metal and antibiotic pollution in environment, clinical and agricultural sector. In addition, I am searching for bacterial candidates for Arsenic bioremediation. Currently, I am interested in development of veterinary vaccine and diagnostic kit specifically for foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) using microbial genomics and bioinformatics tools. My research objectives are:  Investigation of antimicrobial resistance mechanism and control of clinical and environmental pathogens  Analysis of arsenic pollution, biotransformation, genetic control and bioremediation.  Investigation of co-existence of metal and antibiotic resistant gene islands targeting mobilome  Application of genotypic and phenotypic methods for tracking sources of poultry pathogens in different farms and their antimicrobial resistance assay.  Development and application of rapid molecular methods for detection of poultry pathogens.  Development of veterinary vaccines specifically targeting foot-and-mouth disease.
