Karina Aquino is a Honduran professional with over a decade of experience at the intersection of science, gender equality, and international cooperation. She is an Industrial Engineer with a Master’s in Project Management and currently works with World Vision, leading initiatives that integrate gender and disability inclusion into development and humanitarian programs. Karina serves on the Executive Committee of OWSD, where she leads the Subcommittee on Science Diplomacy and Strategic Alliances. Her work bridges research and practice, advancing inclusive policies and evidence-based advocacy. She has coordinated multi-country projects, published research on gender and inclusion, and represented Honduras in high-level forums with UNESCO, UN Women, and international organizations. Passionate about empowering women and underrepresented groups in STEM and beyond, she combines her technical background, diplomacy, and social sciences to drive systemic change
