Medicine and Health

Women are often the primary caregivers, responsible for the health and well-being of children, the elderly, and the sick. They also have unique health needs, such as those related to pregnancy and childbirth. However, medical research has typically been based on male models, from body mass calculations to the use of male animals in studies. This has led to issues like seat belts not fitting women or pregnant women, heart attack symptoms not aligning with women's experiences, and menopause being overlooked. OWSD members are conducting research to address these issues.
