As 'the world needs science and science needs women,' there is no development without women.
Vision statement
Science is a changing power for sustainable development. As “the world needs science and science needs women,” there is no development without women. Thus, strengthening women’s role by promoting their participation and leadership in STEM is at the center of my vision and in accordance with the commitments of OWSD, which is currently striding to maximize its supportive role through various programmes for academic training, career development & networking.
Through my position as the Secretary General of the OWSD Yemen National Chapter; as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies, University of Aden; as director of the Aden Cancer Center; and as a member of the Administrative Boards of Women Center for Research & Training and Center for Ethics (University of Aden), I will seize all opportunities to inspire women scientists, particularly young ones, to flourish in their science careers and particularly in getting postgraduate scholarships, participating in scientific activities and becoming OWSD members. I will work to be a motivational model for women in science through working to make many of the OWSD goals a reality. Specifically, I can make this possible by being one of the OWSD PhD fellows and OWSD-Elsevier Foundation awardees, as well as having various successful networks and scientific relationships. Furthermore, I will strive to strengthen women scientists’ participation through my position as a consultant with many international organizations. I will do my best to have a strong Executive Board with productive, collaborative relations. I hope to learn from the new Executive Board on how to consolidate the roles of National Chapters.
