From Vision to Impact: Redefining STEM by Closing the Gender Gap

The upcoming 2026 International Day of Women and Girls in Science celebration will be held on February 11, 2026, at the African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS), Konza Technopolis from 8.00 am – 3.00 pm.

This year’s event will be held under the global theme, “From Vision to Impact: Redefining STEM by Closing the Gender Gap,” with a keen focus to spotlight actionable pathways for building inclusive STEM environments, with an emphasis on new and emerging technologies and their influence on Gender Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (GEDI). The workshop seeks to meet the following objectives:

  1. Highlight the significance of women in STEM, particularly in shaping inclusive AI systems and leveraging emerging technologies for GEDI.
  2. Facilitate evidence-based discussions featuring personal testimonies and proven strategies for reducing the GEDI gap.
  3. Foster collaboration among diverse stakeholders to drive systemic change in STEM institutions.

The event will convene researchers, scientists, policymakers, private-sector leaders and students. It is designed as an intimate and focused space for evidence-based dialogue, knowledge exchange, and collaborative problem-solving. The event will increase awareness of the importance of GEDI in STEM-based research, thereby catalysing dialogue toward a more inclusive and equitable AI and STEM future.
