FULL OFFICIAL RESULTS: OWSD Executive Board Elections, 17-24 October 2025

The Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) has concluded its Executive Board elections, held from 17–24 October 2025. 

A total of 2,168 ballots were submitted out of 9,293 eligible voters, representing a 23% participation rate. The newly elected Vice Presidents and Regional Members for each region are as follows:

AFRICA REGION
1032 ballots submitted of 4536 (23.75%)

Regional Member: Evelyn Iyose Umemezia
Regional Member: Chao Mbogo

ARAB REGION
199 ballots submitted of 1007 (19.76%)

ELECTED
Vice President: Mervat Ibrahim Foda
Regional Member: Lobna Said
Regional Member: Hanan Arahmane

ASIAN AND THE PACIFIC REGION
428 ballots submitted of 2012 (21.27%)

ELECTED
Vice President: Yanfen Wang
Regional Member: Tista Prasai Joshi
Regional Member: Nadia Ayub

LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN REGION
510 ballots submitted of 1743 (29.26%)

ELECTED
Vice President: Luisa Fernanda Echeverria King
Regional Member: Luisa Maria Diele Viegas
Regional Member: Maria Esther Quintana Caceda
