The Academy and OWSD Palestine National Chapter hosted an introducing seminar on Scholarship Opportunities offered by the Academy and OWSD Network for Women Scientists, that includes

The Academy and OWSD Palestine National Chapter hosted an introducing seminar on Scholarship Opportunities offered by the Academy and OWSD Network for Women Scientists, that includes scientific exchange, Ph.D. and post-doctoral scholarships, Science Bridges, Al-Maqdisi Program, via webinar (Zoom), that was presented by Dr. Rana Samara, Member of the Advisory Committee of the German and Canadian Palestinian Science Bridges, and  Dr. Amira Shaheen, chair of OWSD Palestine National Chapter, that aims how to benefit from these opportunities, and encouraging female academics and researchers holding a master's degree or higher at Palestinian institutions and universities to participate in these scholarship opportunities.

The Seminar was opened by Dr. Rana Samara, and talked about the latest developments and various scholarship programs implemented by the Academy during the year that will benefit women researchers to engage in these opportunities, and delivered presentation about main scholarship opportunities, including:

  • Palestinian German Science Bridge
  • Palestine-Quebec Science Bridge
  • Al Maqdisi Program
  • PALAST other programs and future collaborations

Following that, Dr. Amira Shaheen, delivered a presentation on the OWSD network for women scientists in the Global South and offered including

  • Ph.D. Fellowships
  • Early Career Fellowships
  • Awards for Early Career Scientists
  • Membership and National Chapters network

And highlighted the opportunities available from the OWSD. She also noted the importance of teaching the scientific culture enhancement on the role of women in various scientific and technological fields. In her talk, and she explores more on the eligibility for the OWSD Ph.D. Fellowship Programme, and on the evaluation process and criteria, to enhance the role of female researchers. 

Dr. Amira Shaheen highlighted the goals of the OWSD International organization and various programs they implemented to support and encourage the participation of women in their various programs. She also addressed several success stories on women from developing countries.

Several meetings will be organized, and women researchers will be invited to participate in several activities to promote education and scientific research and motivate young women researchers to complete their scientific careers and increase their participation rate in the labour market. 

This interactive meeting was attended by approximately 36 Researchers, including Palestinian women researchers from various Palestinian universities.
