The OWSD Vice President - Africa, Prof. O. Babalola dates Copperbelt University in Zambia

The Science Talk for Students (collaboration with EIZ/ZWES) with Prof. Olubukola O. Babalola - OWSD Vice President for Africa.

The Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) - Zambian Chapter successfully hosted a Science Talk for Students (in collaboration with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)/ Zambia Women in Engineering Section (ZWES) CBU Students Chapter with Prof. Olubukola Oluranti Babalola - OWSD Vice President for Africa as Speaker and Dr. Mweene Himwiinga - OWSD Ass. Communications was the Moderator.

The collaboration between OWSD - Zambian Chapter, EIZ/ZWES CBU Students Chapter, and the participation of Prof. Babalola as the speaker shows the commitment to promoting women's involvement and representation in science and engineering fields in Zambia.

The Science Talk took place at the Copperbelt University, American Corner on 19th April, 2023. Prof. Babalola's topic for the Talk was "Assertiveness and Self-confidence". 

Prof. Babalola provided practical tips on how to be more assertive such as being direct and specific, and standing up for oneself. Additionally, the talk addressed common barriers to assertiveness and provided strategies on how to overcome these barriers. Prof. Babalola also shared her personal journey to academic excellence.

Special gratitude goes also to the students who attended the event. 

We hope that the Science Talk was informative and inspiring for the students who attended and encourages them to be more assertive and self-confident in their personal and professional lives. We also hope that it encourages more women to pursue careers in science and engineering in Zambia. It is crucial to provide opportunities like these to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the field of STEM.
