The OWSD Vice President - Africa, Prof. Olubukola O. Babalola inspires Mulungushi University Medical Students in Zambia

Prof. Olubukola Oluranti Babalola, the OWSD Vice President for Africa, visited Mulungushi University students and delivered a talk on "Emotional Intelligence and Leadership".

The Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) - Zambian Chapter successfully hosted a Science Talk for Students at Mulungushi University Medical Campus in Livingstone city with Prof. Olubukola Oluranti Babalola - OWSD Vice President for Africa as Speaker. Mrs. Tumelo M. Akapelwa - OWSD ZC executive committee member and Dr. Chilala K. Bowa - OWSD ZC Vice-chairperson were the Moderators. The event was also attended by a representative of the Campus Dean, Mr. Chisulo.

The Science Talk took place at the Mulungushi University, New Lecture Theatre (NLT) on 22nd April, 2023. Prof. Babalola's topic for the Talk was "Emotional Intelligence and Leadership".

During the Science Talk, Prof. Babalola emphasized that leaders who possess emotional intelligence have a greater chance of success in their leadership roles. The talk provided practical examples on how emotional intelligence can be applied in a leadership context, such as through effective communication and relationship building.  Prof. Babalola also shared her personal journey in science leadership.

Prof. Babalola was also one of the distinguished speakers at the Zambia Women in Engineering Section (ZWES) Conference that was held on 20th April at the Avani Falls Resort in Livingstone city.

OWSD Zambian Chapter expresses its gratitude to Mulungushi University Medical Campus administration for their support in hosting this event. It is through collaborations like these that valuable knowledge and insights are brought to communities.
