OWSD Pakistan: Signing of MoU with Salim Habib University at International Day for Women and Girls in Science
On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the Secretary of OWSD Pakistan National Chapter, Prof. Saima Saleem, along with senior chapter member Dr Asma Ansari, attended the academic event titled “From Vision to Impact: Redefining STEM by Closing the Gender Gap” organized by the Department of Biosciences, Salim Habib University, Karachi on February 11, 2026.
During the event, Prof. Saima Saleem delivered a guest lecture highlighting the mission and initiatives of OWSD and the contributions of the Pakistan National Chapter in empowering women in science. She also addressed the challenges of gender disparity in academia and emphasized practical strategies to promote gender equality within educational and research institutions.
A significant highlight of the event was the formal signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between OWSD Pakistan National Chapter and Salim Habib University. The MoU aims to strengthen academic collaboration, promote women’s participation in science, and foster joint academic and professional development initiatives.
This collaboration marks another step forward in building inclusive scientific communities and expanding opportunities for women and girls in STEM.
