In April 2026, the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) will host the Sustaining knowledge during crises: Gender and Displacement in Science Conference in Rome, bringing together researchers, practitioners, and displaced scientists to reflect on the intersection of Gender, Education, Migration, and Science.

Rooted in lived experience and grounded research, the conference aims to foster knowledge exchange and advocacy around the barriers and opportunities faced by displaced women in scientific fields. Participants will explore questions of identity, recognition, mental health, resilience, and scientific continuity under conditions of forced migration.

The WISDOM Conference will inform the development of a forthcoming collaborative book and contribute to OWSD’s long-term commitment to inclusive science diplomacy.

Applications are now open for submissions from researchers at any career stage who are conducting work aligned with the conference themes. A full application must be submitted online by January 4th, 2026
