WISDOM Programme launching in Colombia
OWSD is pleased to invite Higher Education institutions in Colombia to express interest in partnering with us on the OWSD WISDOM Pilot Project: Women in Science Displacement Outreach Master's Program. This initiative combines institutional capacity building with scholarship support to enhance higher education access for displaced women scientists in your country.
About the Project
The WISDOM Pilot Project supports displaced women scientists from developing countries to pursue master’s degrees in their countries of asylum, while simultaneously strengthening partner universities’ ability to create inclusive environments. Building on successful implementation in Jordan, Türkiye and Uganda the project aims to:
- Foster institutional growth through co-designed capacity-building activities.
- Develop gender-responsive, inclusive policies to support displaced learners.
- Promote sustainable education networks through collaboration with stakeholders.
Partner Responsibilities
The selected university will:
- Collaborate with OWSD to design and implement capacity-building activities.
- Administer scholarships (for 10-15 scientists) and manage financial reporting transparently.
- Coordinate dissemination, outreach, and student support
- Participate in training and network-building events.
Why Partner with OWSD?
This potential partnership offers your university the opportunity to:
- Strengthen institutional frameworks for inclusion and gender equity.
- Build networks with global stakeholders in education and displacement.
- Contribute to transformative change in higher education for displaced learners currently in Uganda.
Application
An online information session has taken place on October 21th, 2025 and the recording is available here.
If interested to take the programme forward we will ask you to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) by November 15th addressing:
- Institutional experience working with displaced or marginalized students.
- Vision for co-creating capacity-building activities with OWSD.
- Commitment to gender-responsive and inclusive education practices.
- Preliminary ideas on potential in-kind or financial contributions (e.g., tuition fee discounts).
We look forward to the possibility of collaborating with your institution to advance equitable access to education for displaced women scientists!
