About me
Amy Thein graduated from the Institute of Plant Protection, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Science at Beijing, China, with OWSD's fellowship award. Since 2016, I have been managing several community development programs relating to livelihood activities and climate-smart agriculture under several donor-funded projects.
Specialist Expertise:
Management of large multi-country projects in Myanmar that focus on livelihood improvement in Climate-Smart Agriculture, which are environmentally sustainable. Recently, as the National Technical Advisor at OWSD Myanmar National Chapter, I have overseen the implementation of Innovative Climate-Smart Agriculture Practices in the Central Dry Zone, funded by UNDP. As a Deputy Chief of Party (DCoP) in “Cultivating Rural Opportunities for Productivity Strengthening (CROPS), at Catholic Relief Services (CRS) funded by USAID, focusing to contributing to sustainable agriculture production through increased access to improved agricultural inputs, improved skills in yield-enhancing crop management practices, and strengthened linkages with domestic markets. I contributed to proposal development for different donor-funded projects as National Technical Advisor at CRS. As an Assistant Project Manager in UNDP Adaptation Fund Project, and as Senior Associate Scientist/Project Coordinator at International Rice Research Institute in a World Bank Finance Project (2016-2021), managed Farmer-Field Schools, demonstration plots with advanced technologies, digital soil mapping, landscape, integrated pest management, soil management, and postharvest management in Sagaing, Mandalay, Naypyitaw, and Bago regions. As a National Climate Smart Agriculture Expert at GFA Consulting Groups GmbH, “Climate Investment Readiness Project” for Proximity Finance, I contributed to the development of the Climate-Smart Agriculture Strategy for Proximity Finance and the Monitoring and Evaluation Framework for the implementation of the Climate Investment Readiness Project.
