About me

I am Andsera Adugna Mekonen, a PhD student from Ethiopia currently pursuing my doctoral studies in Italy. My research focuses on spatial analysis, geospatial modeling, GIS, vegetation monitoring, satellite and drone image processing, and climate change mitigation. As a motivated young woman, I am deeply committed to expanding my knowledge on an international level and applying my skills to support sustainable development efforts in Africa, specifically in Ethiopia.

Mrs. Andsera Adugna Mekonen is a PhD student in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Naples Federico II, Italy. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Geology and her master’s degree in Remote Sensing and Geoinformatics from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. Her master’s research focused on GIS-based landslide susceptibility zonation and risk assessment in complex landscapes, using the Beshilo watershed in northern Ethiopia as a case study. Before starting her PhD, she served as a graduate assistant and later as a lecturer at Addis Ababa University.
Andsera received a prestigious scholarship from the Italian organization ENI to pursue her doctoral studies. Her research interests include spatial analysis, image processing, photogrammetry, and the application of GIS and remote sensing to geosciences, environmental monitoring, vegetation, and climate studies.
