About me

A medical laboratory scientist/Medical Research Assistant with over four years of experience in neglected tropical disease research. She is passionate about using genomics to improve disease diagnosis and control.

A medical Research Assistant with a background in molecular biology, entomology, and vector biology. She has over four years of experience as a Medical Research Assistant, working on neglected tropical diseases including onchocerciasis and tuberculosis.

Her work spans the field and the laboratory. She has taken part in blackfly collection, maintenance, and dissection, and in a clinical trial of a combination treatment for onchocerciasis, where she handled participant data, sample collection, transport, and follow-up. In the laboratory, she has carried out DNA extraction from blackfly vectors for parasite identification, developed LAMP diagnostic assays, and performed sputum smear staining and microscopy for tuberculosis identification.

Her work on blackfly DNA extraction sparked a strong interest in genomics. She now aims to pursue doctoral research in genomics to improve the diagnosis and control of infectious diseases in Africa.
