About me
I am a Statistician with a PhD in Statistics and interest in Data Analytics and Machine Learning. I possess over a decade university teaching, curricula development and community service experience. As a lecturer in Zimbabwe and Botswana, I have taught, developed and assessed different courses in Data Science, Data Analytics, Data Mining, Statistical Computing, Statistical Modelling, Statistical Collaboration and Applied mathematics at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and from diverse backgrounds, sizes, culture, and race. My teaching philosophy is motivated by integrating Data concepts with our day-to-day real-life challenges for evidence-based solutions. I advocate for proper data use and its application to solve human challenges especially in health through data science and statistical collaborations. Through this advocacy, I am currently serving in several voluntary roles including chair of the African Women in Data Science, Botswana CODATA National Committee, Zimbabwe Ambassador for Committee of Women in Mathematics, Zimbabwe Statistical Association Committee member, and BIUST Statistical Services Unit coordinator. In my capacity in these various roles, I have trained, organised and facilitated conferences and workshops in Data Science, R/Python programming, Data Analytics, Statistical multidisciplinary collaborations to students from different domain experts. I have also been involved in mentorship programs for girls in mathematical science and data for the years.
I am a Statistician with a PhD in Statistics from Cukurova University in Turkey which I undertook under a Turkish government scholarship, MSc Mathematical Modelling from the University of Zimbabwe also funded by the Norwegian Bursary Department (NUFU) and Bachelors degree in Applied Mathematics. My research interest centres on the use and application of statistics and data science methods to solve sustainable development goals in health and have several publications in HIV, Cancer, COVID-19, Cardiovascular disease among others. I have worked on various research grants in HIV and COVID-19 and my recent one from the International Mathematics Union on girls in Mathematics mentorship program. I also possess over a decade university teaching, curricula development and community service experience.
