About me

I am a Biomedical Engineering student at Universidad del Valle de Guatemala, with experience in medical equipment maintenance, science education, and health innovation projects. I co-authored a perspective paper on organ-on-a-chip technologies in Guatemala, and my main interest is developing biomedical solutions that support healthcare professionals and improve patient care through accessible and practical technologies.

My name is Daniela Cabrera Porras, and I am a Biomedical Engineering student at Universidad del Valle de Guatemala. Throughout my academic journey, I have developed experience in medical equipment maintenance, science education, and participation in health innovation projects.

I have worked as a Teaching Assistant in the course Organs-on-a-Chip and Bioreactors, where I supported the evaluation of academic projects and co-authored a perspective paper on the application of organ-on-a-chip technologies in Guatemala. Additionally, I completed professional internships at Tecniscan and Diagnostika Capris, collaborating with engineering teams to evaluate, inspect, and maintain medical imaging and diagnostic equipment in hospitals and clinics.

My professional interests also include healthcare management and the implementation of practical solutions for hospital and research environments. As a Project Manager at Blue Medical, I designed and implemented a standardized inventory system for medical equipment that was later adopted across multiple branches. Furthermore, I have experience in science and chemistry education, developing STEM projects to encourage critical and scientific thinking among students.

I am passionate about the role of biomedical engineering in supporting healthcare professionals and improving patient care. My goal is to contribute to the development of accessible, efficient, and innovative biomedical technologies that respond to the needs of medical environments in developing countries.
