Prof. El-Feky currently serves as the Acting President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) in Egypt, where she leads transformative national initiatives that align scientific research with Egypt’s Vision 2030. As Chair of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank, she oversees key efforts to democratize access to information and foster a culture of scientific inquiry nationwide.
Appointed by the Egyptian government as Plenipotentiary to the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna, Russia, Prof. El-Feky plays a pivotal role in international scientific diplomacy, representing Egypt’s interests in global research collaborations.
Prof. El-Feky is a distinguished graduate of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University, and earned her Ph.D. there in 2008. Her doctoral research focused on leveraging nanotechnology to develop advanced transdermal drug delivery systems, a contribution that earned her the Best Ph.D. Thesis Award in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the National Research Centre (NRC) in 2008. She further received the NRC Scientific Excellence Awards in both 2011 and 2012, as well as the International Publications Excellence Awards from MSA University in 2014 and 2015, recognizing her outstanding scholarly impact and commitment to scientific advancement.
With deep expertise in nanotechnology-based pharmaceutical sciences, Prof. El-Feky bridges the worlds of academia, policy, and international collaboration. Her leadership not only advances research and innovation but also strengthens Egypt’s position as a regional and global hub for scientific excellence.
Prof. El-Feky holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education from the University of Greenwich, UK, and is affiliated with the UK’s Quality Assurance Agency, reflecting her commitment to advancing educational standards in higher learning. As a Professor in the Pharmaceutical Technology Department at the National Research Centre (NRC), she demonstrates exceptional leadership and expertise in academic and research environments. She chaired the Finance Committee of SESAME in Jordan from 2021 to 2025, serves as a deputy director of both the Egypt Genome Council and its scientific committee, and formerly served as Executive Manager of Egypt’s Children’s University Program under the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT).
A passionate advocate for gender equity in science, Prof. El-Feky is a recognized member of the International Science Council Expert Panel on Gender Equality in Scientific Organizations. She leads the Women in Science Working Group for the Network of African Science Academies (NASAC) and has been an active member of the Society of Women in Science in Developing Countries since 2014. Her unwavering commitment to promoting women’s participation and leadership in STEM fields is evident through her influential roles in these organizations.
Her previous memberships—including the Drug Research Council, National Committee of Drugs, and the Egyptian Young Academy of Sciences—highlight her longstanding impact on pharmaceutical policy and governance from the early stages of her career. These roles underscore her influence in shaping national strategies and policies within the pharmaceutical sector.
Prof. El-Feky’s extensive academic experience includes serving as the Head of the Pharmaceutics Department and Pharmacy Program Leader at the Faculty of Pharmacy, October University for Modern Sciences and Arts (MSA), as well as Deputy Director of the Technology Innovation and Commercialization Office at MSA University. She has also led the Scientific Research Committee, the Ethics and Safety Committee, and served as a member of the National Accreditation Committee at MSA University’s Faculty of Pharmacy, demonstrating her dedication to upholding rigorous standards in research and education.
Her research centers on innovative drug delivery systems and pharmaceutical nano-formulations, with her contributions earning over 900 citations and an H-index of 14—reflecting significant scholarly impact. Prof. El-Feky has participated in nine major research projects as Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator, supervised more than fifteen master’s and doctoral theses, and serves on the editorial boards and as a peer reviewer for several prestigious international journals. Her distinguished research portfolio and mentorship of emerging scientists further cement her reputation as a leader in pharmaceutical sciences and scientific innovation.

• In my capacity as the Acting President of the Academy, I lead and monitor fulfilment of Egypt’s vision 2030, National strategy of Higher Education and Scientific Research and ASRT strategic plan through teaming efforts of the staff of the ASRT. Highlights from my presidency period include:
- Secured Egypt’s Full Membership in the Network of African Science Academies:
Elevated Egypt’s status within the African scientific community by facilitating its inclusion as a full-fledged member, thereby strengthening collaborative continental research initiatives.
- Strategic Leadership in BRICS STI Engagement:
Oversaw and amplified Egypt’s active participation in BRICS Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) working groups, ensuring substantial contributions to global scientific dialogues and cooperative projects.
- Regional Center for Biomanufacturing in North Africa:
Spearheaded a national consortium, under ASRT’s leadership, that successfully secured approval for the establishment of a regional biomanufacturing center, positioning Egypt as a hub for advanced biotechnological research and production in North Africa.

-Hosting the Inter Academies Partnership meeting and triennial conference in Cairo 2025 with the attendance of representative of more than 100 national science academies from around the Globe
-Initiating the International Research Commercialization Expo, a mega platform where innovators, industry, startups, entrepreneurs from around the world could meet, interact and network together. The first version of the expo was launched in Dec 2025 with the attendance of more than representatives from 50+ countries (1000 participant) and multiple academia-industry deals were sealed during the event.

• In my capacity as the Supervisor General of the Egyptian Knowledge Bank;

2. Strategic Financial Management & Savings:
- Engineered and gained board approval for a shift from an annual subscription model to a permanent licensing model for the core Knowledge Management Suite, achieving cost savings exceeding $17.5 million USD and ensuring long-term technological sovereignty.
3. International Expansion & Diplomacy:
- Led the official internationalization ("EKB Int") of EKB services, signing strategic agreements with 16+ international publishers and partners under the patronage of the Prime Minister.
- Forged landmark regional partnerships with the Association of Arab Universities (AArU) and the Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils (FASRC) to export EKB’s digital solutions across the Arab world.

- Achieved National Accreditation for the Faculty of Pharmacy from Egypt’s National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NAQAAE), reflecting a commitment to the highest benchmarks in educational quality and institutional performance.
- Designed and implemented comprehensive Chemical and Biological Waste Management Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for university laboratories, in collaboration with LAFARGE company, France, ensuring adherence to global safety protocols and environmental sustainability practices.
- Developed and delivered an innovative Joint Summer Program on “Advanced Drug Delivery” in partnership with the Faculty of Science, Greenwich University, providing students with a unique international academic experience and exposure to cutting-edge pharmaceutical technologies.
