About me

I am a Colombian geoscientist and PhD candidate in marine geosciences at Heidelberg University, with a background in geology and a focus on coastal systems. My work combines sedimentary processes, geochronological approaches, and data-driven methods such as remote sensing and machine learning to understand environmental dynamics in tropical coastal environments. I have experience in hydrography and oceanography and lead GeoMarine Solutions, an initiative applying geoscience and geospatial tools for sustainable coastal management.

I am a Colombian geoscientist and PhD candidate in marine geosciences at Heidelberg University, with a background in geology and a strong interest in coastal and marine systems. My work integrates sedimentary processes, source-to-sink dynamics, and geochronological approaches with data-driven methods such as remote sensing and machine learning to better understand environmental dynamics in tropical coastal environments.

My academic and professional experience spans hydrography, oceanography, and environmental monitoring. I have worked in research projects with the Colombian Navy and academic initiatives focused on coastal lagoon systems, combining field-based data acquisition with geospatial analysis and modeling techniques.

During my MSc, I developed a cloud-based monitoring system integrating satellite data and machine learning to assess water quality dynamics in a tropical coastal lagoon, contributing to data-driven environmental monitoring and management.

In parallel, I am the founder of GeoMarine Solutions, a Colombian initiative aimed at integrating geosciences, geospatial analysis, and environmental data to support sustainable decision-making in marine and coastal contexts. Through this initiative, I am particularly interested in bridging scientific research with practical applications.

My interests lie in connecting fundamental geoscience processes with technological tools to support data-driven monitoring and sustainable management of coastal systems.
