Dr. Gayashani Sandamalika
About me
Dr. Gayashani Sandamalika is a Senior Lecturer attached to the Department of Aquaculture & Fisheries, Faculty of Livestock, Fisheries & Nutrition, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka. She received her bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) from the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka, specializing in the fields of oceanography and marine geology. She earned her Master’s and doctoral degrees from the Department of Marine Life Sciences (Marine Molecular Genetics Laboratory) at Jeju National University, South Korea, with a focus on fish genomic selection. Dr. Gayashani’s research interests are cantered on marine biology, aquaculture and fisheries, molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, epigenetics and computational and functional genomics. Dr. Sandamalika has published her research in several reputable journals focusing on aquaculture and genetics. She is also a recent recipient of grants from Wayamba University and the 2025 TWAS Individual Research Grant, supporting her pioneering study of fish epigenetics in Sri Lanka.
