About me
I am a Sri Lankan biotechnologist holding a First Class BSc (Hons) in Biotechnology from SLIIT and currently pursuing an MSc in Biotechnology at the Postgraduate Institute of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya (CGPA 3.91). My research focuses on plant biotechnology, molecular biology, microbiology, and bioinformatics, with published work on optimized callus induction protocols for yellow passion fruit. I am a recipient of multiple academic scholarships.
I am a motivated biotechnologist from Sri Lanka with a strong academic foundation and growing research experience in plant sciences, microbiology, and bioinformatics. I graduated with a First Class BSc (Hons) in Biotechnology from the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology in 2024, achieving a CGPA of 3.73, and am currently reading for an MSc in Biotechnology at the Postgraduate Institute of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya, where I maintain a CGPA of 3.91.
My undergraduate thesis focused on developing an improved protocol for callus initiation from yellow passion fruit (Passiflora edulis f. flavicarpa), work that was subsequently published at the SLIIT International Conference on Advancements in Sciences and Humanities in December 2024. I continued this research as an Undergraduate Research Student at SLIIT, further developing micropropagation and callus induction protocols for the same species.
Beyond plant sciences, I completed a three-month training program at the Bacteriology Division of the Veterinary Research Institute (VRI), Sri Lanka, where I gained hands-on experience in antimicrobial susceptibility testing, biosafety protocols (BSL 1–3), diagnostic serology, and vaccine technology.
I have also earned certifications in Antibiotic Stewardship (Stanford University), Introduction to Statistics (Johns Hopkins University), and R Programming (University of Amsterdam), reflecting my commitment to interdisciplinary scientific development. A consistent Dean's List honoree and multiple scholarship recipient, I am passionate about applying biotechnology to address real-world challenges in agriculture, food security, and biodiversity conservation.
