Ms. Ibahnash Mupandira
About me
Ibahnash Mupandira is a Spatial Scientist and Water Resource Management specialist with an MSc from the University of Zimbabwe. Her research focuses on applying GIS, remote sensing, and hydrological modeling to address urban flooding, water scarcity, and climate resilience, particularly in data-scarce regions of Southern Africa.
Ibahnash Mupandira is a dedicated Spatial Scientist holding a Master of Science in Integrated Water Resource Management. Her expertise lies at the intersection of hydrology, geospatial analysis, and sustainable development. Her MSc thesis involved a diagnostic assessment of urban floods in Harare using satellite data and SWMM modeling, developing a framework for flood risk management in ungauged catchments. She has further specialized through advanced training in isotope hydrology at the BIOGRIP/CAF Field Sampling Course and Stable Light Isotope Mass Spectrometry at UCT. Professionally, she has contributed as a Research Assistant in stormwater drainage at the University of Zimbabwe and as a Water Resource Management Intern at Hydro-Utilities. She is an active member of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) and the Zimbabwe Institute of Geomatics, and has contributed to policy dialogues, such as the Youth Dialogue on Wetlands Policy ahead of RAMSAR COP15. Her research aims to integrate isotopic tracers with traditional methods to solve pressing water security challenges.
