Iresha Atthanayake
About me
Dr. Iresha Udayangani Atthanayake is a Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at University of Moratuwa Sri Lanka. She holds a PhD in Fluid Mechanics from the University of Warwick, UK, with research expertise in rotating flows and particle image velocimetry. Her teaching and research interests span thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, computational fluid dynamics, sustainable transportation, and energy policy.
She has served in several academic leadership roles including Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Acting Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Technology. She served as Director of the Centre for National Online and Distance Education Systems and She currently serves as Joint General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Science (SLAAS).
Dr. Atthanayake is an award-winning researcher, a Study UK Alumni Awards finalist (Science and Sustainability, 2023), and an active contributor to engineering education, research commercialization, and national science policy initiatives.
