Dra. Isella Cordova
About me
I am doctor with a focus on medical education and evidence-based practice. In 2024, I founded the Liga Académica de Pediatría, where I lead a scientific reading club project training general practitioners and medical students in critical appraisal of pediatric literature and take classes of general pediatrics. I also coordinate medical outreach brigades serving underserved communities. In 2026, I received the Medical Innovation award at the TOIP Awards for this work.
I am a general practitioner (Doctor of Medicine), with a professional focus on medical education, investigation and evidence-based practice in pediatrics.
In 2024, I founded the Liga Académica de Pediatría, an initiative dedicated to strengthening pediatric knowledge and critical thinking skills among general practitioners, medical students, and healthcare-adjacent professionals. Within this project, I designed and now lead a scientific reading club — a fully virtual program launching in August 2026 — that trains participants to critically appraise pediatric literature through structured monthly and biweekly sessions. My responsibilities include coordinating presenters, designing session formats, and producing institutional documentation to sustain and scale the initiative.
Alongside this, I organize medical brigades that bring healthcare access and services directly to underserved communities.
This year, I was awarded the Medical Innovation prize at the TOYP Awards in recognition of this work in medical education and community health.
