About me

Dr Jamie‑Lee Foote is a Consultant Haematologist and Medical Oncologist based in Jamaica, and Head of the Haematology/Oncology Unit at Mandeville Regional Hospital. She manages a wide range of blood disorders and cancers, with a focus on delivering evidence‑based chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted treatments in resource‑limited settings. Dr Foote is passionate about teaching and mentorship, guiding junior doctors and medical students and helping to build stronger oncology services in the public sector. Her interests include integrative oncology, early detection and prevention of cancer in younger people, and community education to reduce stigma and delays in seeking care.

Dr Jamie‑Lee Foote is a Consultant Haematologist and Medical Oncologist in Jamaica and Head of the Haematology/Oncology Unit at Mandeville Regional Hospital. She leads a growing regional service that has expanded access to chemotherapy and multidisciplinary cancer care for patients across central Jamaica.

Dr Foote completed her MBBS and Doctor of Medicine in Haematology/Oncology at the University of the West Indies, after earning a BS in Biology (summa cum laude) from the City College of New York. During her training she received multiple awards for academic excellence and research, including national recognition in the United States for work conducted at Memorial Sloan‑Kettering Cancer Center, as well as government and university scholarships and induction into honour societies such as Phi Beta Kappa and Golden Key.

Her clinical and research interests include multiple myeloma, breast cancer, integrative oncology, and strengthening cancer care in resource‑limited settings. She has presented on advances in cancer diagnosis and treatment at regional academic events and frequently contributes to public conversations on cancer prevention, early detection and survivorship in Jamaica.

Alongside her clinical work, Dr Foote is committed to teaching and mentorship, supervising residents and medical students and helping to build oncology curricula that reflect Caribbean realities. She also enjoys community outreach, media engagements and patient‑education initiatives that aim to demystify cancer and empower people to seek timely, evidence‑based care.
