Mrs. Johanna Reyes-Reinoso
About me
My career focuses on advancing research and activism to promote gender equity, particularly in STEM and entrepreneurship, and empowering women and girls to overcome societal barriers.
Due to my active involvement in research, I was appointed in April 2022 as the Coordinator of the Research Network and Observatories at Universidad Católica de Cuenca, Campus Azogues, a position I hold to date. My dedication to advocacy earned me a place in the Civil Society Advisory Group for UN Women in Ecuador, where I have served since 2022.
In recognition of my contributions, I was honored by the National Assembly of Ecuador for my research and efforts to highlight the challenges faced by women. Additionally, I was named the OWSD (Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World) Coordinator at Universidad Católica de Cuenca and became one of the founding members of the International Network of Women in Science, where I serve as Ecuador’s ambassador.
Most recently, in November 2024, I was appointed as the Coordinating Editor for the Al Dato Observatory, further consolidating my commitment to using data-driven approaches to address gender inequalities and promote social equity.
Johanna Rosalí Reyes Reinoso, PhD is an Ecuadorian researcher and professor at the Universidad Católica de Cuenca, where she serves as Head of the Research and Observatory Network (RIOUC) at the Azogues campus. She holds a PhD in Social Sciences (Management) from the Universidad del Zulia, along with master’s degrees in Comprehensive Auditing and Human Rights, and undergraduate degrees in Marketing and International Business Negotiation and Accounting and Auditing (CPA).
Her academic and research work focuses on gender studies, entrepreneurship, financial education, sustainability, internal control systems, and social responsibility, with particular emphasis on women-led enterprises, symbolic violence in higher education, and the role of technology and governance in organizational performance. She has published in indexed and international journals and is the author and editor of academic books and book chapters on gender, social responsibility, and management in Latin America.
Dr. Reyes Reinoso is an active member of national and international research networks, including the Ecuadorian Network of Women in Science (REMCI) and the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD). She also collaborates with academic and civil society organizations in projects related to gender equality, education, and sustainable development.
