About me

Anesu Kapondo is a Zimbabwean female scientist, chemistry researcher, and emerging STEM innovator dedicated to expanding access to practical science learning for girls and underserved communities. Her work integrates chemistry education, ICT-enhanced learning, and heritage-based Education 5.0 to design low-cost experiments, virtual labs, and interactive learning tools for Open and Distance e-Learning (ODeL) students. She is also developing STEM solutions for primary and secondary learners. Passionate about educational equity and innovation, Anesu aims to use science as a catalyst for community transformation and sustainable development.

Anesu Katai is a science educator, researcher, and emerging STEM entrepreneur from Zimbabwe whose work focuses on transforming access to high-quality science education, particularly for girls and learners in marginalized communities. With a strong background in chemistry education and a growing portfolio of research, she is deeply committed to designing practical and culturally grounded learning experiences that address the realities of resource-constrained environments. Her academic work spans several interconnected areas: low-cost home-based chemistry experiments, virtual laboratory integration in ODeL, gamification of chemistry concepts, and the infusion of heritage-based Education 5.0 principles into science curricula. She has produced interactive learning charts, experiment guides, and heritage-infused chemistry content that help learners grasp abstract concepts more easily while aligning with national education priorities. Her developing textbook and experiment guides demonstrate her commitment to merging scientific rigor with culturally relevant pedagogy.
Beyond research, Anesu is working on the establishment of a STEM centre which aims to increase girls’ participation in STEM, strengthen foundational science skills among primary learners, and bridge the gap between education and real-world innovation.

Driven by a passion for equitable education, innovation, and community empowerment, Anesu is committed to shaping Africa’s next generation of scientists, innovators, and problem-solvers.
