About me
Dr Lilian Oryema is a lecturer at the Department of Geomatics and Land Management, Makerere University. She is a land surveyor registered with Surveyors Registration Board (SRB), a member of Institution of Surveyors of Uganda (ISU) and an accredited mediator with Royal Institute of Chattered Surveyor (RICS) with an interest in Land Management and Land Administration.
she is an achievement-driven and a result oriented person who is interested in working with individuals and teams utilizing their skills and knowledge to reach set goals. Dr Lilian Oryema possesses the ability to work well with professionals in different sectors. She strives hard to be actively involved in community works.
Dr. Lilian Oryema is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Geomatics and Land Management at Makerere University’s College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT). With over 15 years of teaching and research experience, she specializes in land surveying, geospatial sciences, and sustainable land governance.
Her research focuses on responsible land management, the integration of urban agriculture, and geospatial policy for sustainable development. She has published widely, including in the African Journal on Land Policy and Geospatial Sciences, and collaborates with international partners from institutions such as the Technical University of Munich and University of Twente.
Dr. Oryema is passionate about bridging academic research with practical solutions to Uganda’s land management challenges, advancing innovation in geospatial technologies while mentoring the next generation of professionals.
Dr Lilian is also A land surveyor registered with Surveyors Registration Board (SRB) and a member of Institution of Surveyors of Uganda (ISU).
