Dr Linda Dyorisse NYAMEN is an Associate Professor in the Department of Inorganic Chemistry of the University of Yaoundé I, Cameroon. She obtained her PhD degree in 2013 through the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing world (OWSD) PhD Sandwich fellowship programme. Her research area is Coordination Chemistry/Material Science. She is involved in the design of ecofriendly nanomaterials for environmental photocatalytic applications aiming at achieving Sustainable Development Goals SDG3 (Good Health and Well Being), SDG6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and SDG7 (Affordable and Clean Energy). In December 2014, as Co-PI, her research group obtained the Royal Society- DFID Africa Capacity Building Initiative for African Researchers South of the Sahara Grant to develop nanomaterials for energy applications. In 2019, she was awarded the TWAS-DFG Postgraduate Fellowship and in 2020, the OWSD Early Career Women Scientists Fellowship grant to design functionalized nano-photocatalysts for industrial wastewater. She developed an equipped nanotechnology laboratory through these grants, enhancing research capabilities at the University of Yaoundé I.
She attended 22 conferences and 24 workshops/award ceremonies both nationally and internationally, organized multiple workshops, fostering dialogue and sustainable science. She also acts as Reviewer for Peer reviewed journals, for the Consultative Board for University Institutions, Scientific Commission, for the OWSD Elsevier Foundation Award Selection Committee and the AAAS-TWAS Science Diplomacy Selection Committee. She advocates for gender equality, while acting as the Vice chair of the OWSD Cameroon National Chapter (OWSD-CAM) where she is involved in the mentoring, and empowerment of women scientists, encouraging them to pursue a career in STEM related fields. She is member of learning societies such as the Organization for Women Scientists for the Developing world (OWSD), the Cameroon Academy of Young Scientists (CAYS), the African Materials Research Society (AMRS) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). She has co-authored several articles in peer reviewed journals.
