Maano Shimanda
About me
With over nine years of progressive experience in public sector governance, programme oversight, monitoring and evaluation, and institutional performance management — including senior roles at the Social Security Commission of Namibia and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) — I bring strong strategic leadership capacity aligned with national development service delivery and community development mandates.
My background includes strategic planning support, stakeholder coordination, compliance oversight, budgeting processes, and advisory engagement with senior management structures.
I currently work in Monitoring and Evaluation within the development sector, where I am involved in overseeing projects, assessing performance, supporting evidence-based decision-making, and working with diverse stakeholders. Through this experience, I have developed a strong understanding of project implementation and the importance of effective leadership, sound management, accountability, and strategic planning in achieving organisational objectives.
Although my academic background has provided me with strong analytical and research skills, I believe that formal engagements and training opportunities will equip me with the practical knowledge and competencies required to take on greater leadership and managerial responsibilities. This opportunity will also broaden my understanding of management, Gender equality, women's empowerment, finance, strategy, and leadership.
My long-term goal is to progress into a management and leadership role where I can contribute meaningfully to performance, empowering other women and the development of communities.
