Dr/Marwa El-Sawy

About me

I am dr.Marwa Zein ElDein Elsawy. I am currently working for the Egyptian petroleum research institute (EPRI), as an associate professor in the geophysics lab. I obtained my BSc in geophysics in 2008 with an overall percent of 86%, being among the top ten and my master degree in 2012 in geophysics. I received my PhD in 2016, in geophysics. My research interres include well logging petrophysics

Dr. Marwa Zein El-Dein Abdelwahab El-Sawy is an Egyptian geophysicist and reservoir characterization with extensive academic and research experience in petroleum reservoir. I currently a assistant professor at the Egyptian Petroleum Research Institute (EPRI), Exploration Department, where she has been actively involved in multidisciplinary studies integrating geophysical, petrophysical, and geological data for hydrocarbon exploration and reservoir evaluation.
I obtained my B.Sc. in Geophysics from Zagazig University in 2008 with Excellent with Honor degree. I earned my M.Sc. degree in Geophysics in 2012, with a thesis focused on reservoir evaluation of the Upper Cretaceous sequence in the Northwestern Desert of Egypt using well-log analysis. In 2016, I completed my Ph.D. in Geophysics at Zagazig University, where my doctoral research addressed the petroleum system analysis of the Ras Ghara oil field in the Gulf of Suez, Egypt.
Since joining EPRI in 2012, I have progressed through several research positions, starting as a Specialist, then Assistant Researcher, and currently serving as an assistant professor. I also was an active member of the EPRI Core Analysis Laboratory, where I have gained substantial hands-on expertise in advanced petrophysical and rock physics measurements. My technical experience includes gas permeability (horizontal and vertical), porosity and grain density measurements, overburden pressure testing, formation resistivity factor and index measurements, relative permeability experiments, capillary pressure analysis, wettability evaluation, and pore volume compressibility assessment at high pressures.
My research interests focus on reservoir characterization, rock typing, hydraulic flow units, well-log interpretation, seismic interpretation, petroleum system analysis, and integrated geophysical–petrophysical studies. I has authored and co-authored more than 20 peer-reviewed scientific publications in well-recognized international journals, including Marine and Petroleum Geology, Journal of Petroleum Exploration and Production Technology, Egyptian Journal of Petroleum, Journal of African Earth Sciences, Petroleum Science and Technology, and Scientific Reports.
