About me
A PhD researcher in Environmental Chemistry specializing in mercury contamination in mining-impacted environments in Namibia. My research investigates mercury speciation, methylmercury formation, trace metal mobility, and environmental risk assessment in soils, water, sediments, tailings, and plants. My work contributes to environmental conservation, water quality protection, and sustainable management of contaminated mining landscapes.
I am a Namibian scientist, Laboratory Technician, and PhD researcher specializing in environmental geochemistry and mercury pollution in mining-impacted ecosystems. My research focuses on the occurrence, speciation, mobility, and environmental risks of mercury and methylmercury in soils, sediments, water, tailings, and plants associated with abandoned mining sites in Namibia. By integrating analytical chemistry, environmental monitoring, and geochemical modelling, my work contributes to sustainable environmental management, pollution mitigation, and the advancement of scientific knowledge for environmental protection. I am committed to promoting scientific excellence and supporting the participation of women in science and research. Using laboratory analysis, geochemical modelling, and environmental monitoring techniques, I seek to improve understanding of contaminant behaviour and support sustainable environmental management. I was awarded a prize in the Water and Environmental Chemistry category at the 3rd Commonwealth Chemistry Poster Event (2022) in recognition of my research contributions to environmental chemistry and water quality protection.
