About me
Dr. Maryse Dadina NKOUA NGAVOUKA is a Congolese scientist specializing in materials science and renewable energy. Since 2023, she has served as Executive Director of the Oyo Center of Excellence for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (CEO) and lecturer-researcher at Marien Ngouabi University. She holds a Ph.D. in Nanotechnology and Nanoscience from the University of Trieste (2015) and founded the Applied Physics Laboratory at IRSEN. She is the first female Assistant Professor in Physics accredited by CAMES in Congo. Her honors include Knight of the Congolese Order of Merit (2023) and the Bronze Medal for Scientific Research (2018).
Dr. Maryse Dadina Nkoua Ngavouka is a Congolese scientist specializing in materials science and renewable energy. Since September 2023, she has been the Executive Director of the Oyo Center of Excellence for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (CEO). She is also a lecturer and researcher in the Physics Department of the Faculty of Science and Technology at Marien Ngouabi University.
She earned her Ph.D. in Physics, with a specialization in Nanotechnology and Nanoscience, from the University of Trieste in Italy in 2015, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Condensed Matter Physics from the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in Italy in 2011. She also holds a Master’s degree in Physics from Marien Ngouabi University in the Republic of the Congo (2009).
After completing her studies and postdoctoral research in Italy, she chose to return to her home country, the Republic of the Congo, to share her expertise. In 2018, she began her career in Congo as an associate researcher at the National Institute for Research in Exact and Natural Sciences (IRSEN), where she established the Applied Physics Laboratory with the support of her partners. She is the first female Assistant Professor accredited by CAMES in Physics at Marien Ngouabi University—and therefore in the Republic of the Congo.
Dr. Nkoua Ngavouka has also held several key administrative positions, including Director of Administration and Human Resources at IRSEN, and Scientific Research and Technological Innovation Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Technological Innovation.
She collaborates with national and international institutions such as UNIDO, UNESCO, OWSD, TWAS, the European Union, and Eni Congo, as well as with leading universities such as the University of Leeds and Case Western Reserve University.
Dr. Nkoua Ngavouka has received several honors, including being named Knight of the Congolese Order of Merit (2023) and the Bronze Medal of Honor for Scientific and Technological Research (2018). She has published numerous scientific papers and secured several research grants and co-funding awards, notably the OWSD Early Career Fellowship, Royal Society grant, TWAS Individual Grant, and the AMES grant.
