A science practitioner with a career of more than 10 years, covering administrative, managerial, and teaching experience coupled with extensive applied scientific research experience.
Melody Ndemera holds a doctorate in Pharmaceutical Sciences, a Master of Science Degree in Food Safety and a Bachelor of Technology (Honours) Degree in Food Science and Technology. A science practitioner by profession, she boasts a career of more than 10 years, covering administrative, managerial, and teaching experience coupled with extensive applied scientific research experience. This experience has been gained through her various roles as public officer, senior lecturer, research coordinator, international and regional consultant, project team leader and researcher in various fields of science and technology. She is currently a Senior Lecturer in Food Processing Technology and programme coordinator of Food Processing Technology Master Programme at Harare Institute of Technology, Zimbabwe. She also heads a small research group focused on improving public health outcomes through generating scientific evidence to inform policy making. Her accomplishments to date include securing both local and international research funding and is currently the principal investigator in 5 internationally funded research projects. She has been invited to speak on developments in food safety in Zimbabwe and Africa at various international platforms and conferences. Melody also leads consultancy teams on local and international public health projects. She sees herself as a leader in evidence-based policy making in Zimbabwe, and this stems from her background in risk analysis for public health.
