About me
I am Dr. Mona Shaban El Sayed Mohamed, Assistant Professor of Microbiology & Immunology at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Al-Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt. I completed my M.Sc. in Medical Microbiology (2017) and my Ph.D. in Microbiology & Immunology (2020) at Al-Azhar University. My research experience centers on understanding and combating microbial pathogenicity and antimicrobial resistance, with a strong focus on quorum-sensing–dependent virulence factors, microbial biofilms, and the emergence of drug resistance. I have developed and evaluated antimicrobial strategies using nanotechnology and bioactive biomaterials (including chitosan- and nanoparticle-based approaches), and have contributed to molecular studies of resistance and biofilm formation mechanisms. I also applies advanced analytical approaches such as mathematical pharmacodynamic modeling, transcriptomic/proteomic investigation, and in silico techniques (e.g., molecular docking and docking-supported analyses) to clarify antimicrobial effects and optimize combinations. My work is reflected in multiple peer-reviewed publications and thesis supervision across topics such as anti-biofilm activity, antimicrobial resistance mechanisms, and alternative therapies for multidrug-resistant pathogens.
